Restorative justice is a victim-oriented approach and a novel concept of justice which with emphasis on importance and position of victim during judgment tries to compensate the victim and members of local society for losses and also re-socialize the criminal. Restorative justice discourse with a different perspective towards justice and punishment tries to restore the relationship between criminal, victim and societ. Restorative justice in dealing with both legal and criminal cases, the use of legal rules is bound to protect the victim and follows its own framework Therefore, adhering to special principles may conflict with the criminal dimension of lawsuits and create challenges for the implementation of the post-litigation process. Inspired by criminological theories, Iran's legislative policy has incorporated various programs of restorative justice into criminal law. We think that the principles of restorative justice face challenges and problems in the implementation of criminal law. Therefore, in this descriptive-analytical method, the executive challenges of restorative justice in Iranian criminal law are investigated. According to the research findings, the mismatch between the agreement between the litigants and the crime committed in the model of restorative justice, the lack of awareness of the offender in the implementation of restorative justice programs and the inefficiency of restorative justice in criminal cases are among the most important challenges of restorative justice.
